Red Ribbon Week is October 23-27

WHES will observe the following theme days during Red Ribbon Week:
* Monday October 23rd: “Rock the Red!” Wear red and/or rock star attire.
* Tuesday October 24th: “Team Up Against Drugs!” Wear your favorite team shirt/jersey.
* Wednesday October 25th: “Real Heroes Don’t Do Drugs!” Wear super hero attire.
* Thursday October 26th: “Round up Drugs!” Wear cowboy/cowgirl/western attire.
* Friday October 27th: “Spirit Day: Blue Front White Back Magic” Wear Wildcat Blue to support your hometown Temple Wildcats!
* Tuesday October 31st, we will allow students and staff to wear Halloween costumes to school. Please remember, no face paint or masks.

Spare Change Drive to Benefit Royalwood Elementary

We are initiating a spare change coin drive challenge to benefit the library of Royalwood Elementary School in Sheldon ISD, which was decimated by Hurricane Harvey. The coin challenge will begin on Wednesday October 11th and run through the completion of the Book Fair on October 28th. The classroom that collects the most money will receive a Pinata Party! Together we can make a difference and help our adopted school rebuild.

Fall Carnival Sponsored by Western Hills Church of Christ

Join us on Saturday October 28th for our 2nd annual Fall Carnival sponsored by the Western Hills Church of Christ! FREE games, candy, prizes and fun for everyone!!! We will have a costume contest for children and teachers. Our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) will have hot dogs, chips, drinks, and cotton candy available for purchase -- proceeds will benefit Western Hills Elementary students.

Fire Safety 101

Yesterday, students in Kindergarten and 1st grade enjoyed a fire safety presentation from Coach Buzz & Fireman Blaze with the Temple Fire & Rescue Community Education Unit. Students learned a 4 step escape plan and the importance of regularly testing your smoke alarm.

Cooking Up Fun With Mrs. Donofrio

What's that sweet smell coming from the library? It's Mrs. Donofrio and her 5th grade Junior Chefs! The Cooking Club has started meeting again on Tuesdays after school. The club is only available to 5th grade students. Please see our campus librarian, Mrs. Donofrio for more information.

We will have new school hours for the 2017-2018 school year. Start time will be 7:35 a.m. Your child will be counted tardy if they arrive after 7:35 a.m. Dismissal time will be 3:15 p.m.
