1st graders enjoyed the first day of fall while conducting an outdoor experiment in the garden. As part of their unit on properties and patterns, students observed a cube of ice change from solid to liquid. Students also recognized that the water would evaporate and change from liquid to gas.

Complete the attached form and return with payment (cash or check) to Western Hills by Friday September 25th. Support our students that will compete in the Speed Stacking Tournament at Temple High on Saturday October 3rd.

The award winning Temple High School Theatre will hold open auditions for Shrek The Musical on October 5th and 6th beginning at 4:15, with call-backs on October 7th.

The Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) had an incredible turnout at their kick-off event. We now have over 20 dads signed up to volunteer at our school. If you would like information about joining the Watch D.O.G.S. please contact Napoleon Rios or Matthew Walters.

Progress Reports will go home tomorrow, Wednesday September 16th. Please take time to review your child's progress with them. We appreciate your involvement and support.

The Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) will hold a kick-off pizza party tonight at the Western Hills Elementary School cafeteria from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

The Jr. Master Gardeners spent some time maintaining the garden this morning.

Students in grades 3-5 will be learning about self-confidence during this month's guidance lesson with the School Counselor. They will have the opportunity to create a "confidence collage" using pictures that inspire them to be the best version of themselves!

This morning Western Hills paid tribute to those who lost their lives on 9-11-01.
