Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program Begins Western Hills Elementary will be participating in the BOOK IT! program sponsored by Pizza Hut. BOOK IT! runs every school year from October through March. The teacher sets a reading goal for each child in the class. As soon as a child meets the monthly reading goal, the teacher recognizes him or her with a Reading Award Certificate. 1st Graders celebrate Johnny Appleseed Mrs. Ferrel's first-grade class was able to enjoy a tasty snack after they completed some hands-on learning about Johnny Appleseed. After studying about the life and work of Johnny Appleseed, students made predictions about how many seeds would be in their apples and opened them up to discover if their predictions were correct. They recorded the activity into their interactive math and science journals.
