On Friday, we held our 5th six weeks Rocking Roadrunner Awards ceremony and Star Student lunches. Students were recognized for achievements in Reading, Music, P.E., attendance, behavior, grades, and good character.

On Friday, first-grade students held a goods and services fair. Students used their own school money "starbucks" to purchase goods and services from other first grade students. Some of the services included nail polish application, face painting, temporary tattoos, hand and back massage, and story time. Some of the goods available for purchase included snacks, drinks, pencils, bracelets, and small trinkets. This was wonderful way for students to gain hands-on experience with what they have learned about making economic choices.

Keep on Rocking Roadrunners! Once again, Western Hills was the district wide winner of Survivor TISD for Week 4. We won the drawing for having a high level of campus participation. Schlotzky's will be donating prizes to the teachers. Congratulations to 5th grade reading teacher, Sarah Thomas, on winning the teacher drawing and a $100 Sonic Gift Card.

Congratulations are in order to Ms. Lewis for winning an office chair from Perry Office Supply as part of the Survivor TISD contest.

Students who completed the Bluebonnet Reading Challenge attended a field trip to the Temple Public Library this morning with other schools in the district for the Bluebonnet Reading Extravaganza!

Roadrunners Rock! Western Hills was the campus wide winner of Survivor TISD Week 2. We had the highest participation percentage out of all the campuses in the district. Congratulations to 2nd grade teacher, Christina Baxter, on winning the teacher drawing and a $100 H-E-B gift card. The Junior Master Gardeners Club applied for the Seeds of Change grant to continue improving our garden. In order to move on to the final round, we need your help! Voting begins March 31st. Visit www.seedsofchangegrant.com, search the submission gallery for "Western Hills Junior Master Gardeners" and vote once a day until April 18th.

Congratulations are in order to Mrs. Darst for winning a $100 gift card to Walmart & Sam's Club as part of the Survivor TISD contest.

WHES is once again collecting phone books for the Keep Temple Beautiful campaign. Ms. Ford has created a beautiful phone booth for us. It is located at the front of the school, so send your phone books!

Students who received the 4th Six Weeks Outstanding Citizens Award traveled to the new Ralph Wilson Youth Club last week to celebrate their achievement of Perfect Attendance, Outstanding Behavior, and Excellent Academics. Way to go Roadrunners!
